Time’s Up Anti-Harassment PSA

The #metoo movement has been growing exponentially. Calls for accountability against abusive, manipulative, and violent men have touched just about every industry in the United States. At least for men at the top of those industries. There is much more work to be done, especially in industries that do not have the support and benefit of media attention, such as within the service industry, agriculture, and STEM fields. There is work we can all do in our everyday lives to both check our own behavior while fostering a culture free from violence and coersion.

Producer and actress, Rashida Jones, one of the driving forces behind Time’s Up, an organization that formed within the entertainment industry to address the culture and history of sexism and men’s domination within that industry while acting in solidarity with women who have called out their perpetrators. In the first of what I hope will be a series of PSAs, Time’s Up explains what harassment looks like in the workplace and how to avoid it. The narration by Donald Glover is an added bonus. Check it out:

Ending rape culture will not happen only through punishment and accountability for past actions and behaviors. We have to be better moving forward. This PSA shows us examples of how to do just that.
